Through a Software Assurance Volume License agreement

Through MSDN and TechNet subscriptions

Through Software Assurance agreements allowing the download of Windows 7 RTM via the Volume Licensing Download Center.

If none of these options work for you, our friends at Springboard are making a 90-day eval version available for download.
A few things to be aware of before you download the Evaluation code from the Springboard Series site on TechNet:

A limited number of licenses are available, so the download will only be available while supplies last.

Following the 90 day evaluation period, IT Pros who wish to continue to use Windows 7 Enterprise will be required to purchase and perform a clean installation of Windows 7, including drivers and applications.

Windows 7 Enterprise Edition 90-Day Trial is the final Released-to-Manufacturing (RTM) version of Windows 7 Enterprise Edition. This is the same software that is available to Volume Licensing (VL) through Software Assurance (SA) and is feature-complete.

Windows 7 Enterprise 90-Day Trial is available in English, Spanish, French, German, and Japanese in both 32 and 64 bit versions.

Activation of Windows 7 Enterprise 90-Day Trial is required within 10 days after installation, or the product will shut down every hour. Windows 7 Enterprise 90-Day Trial is valid for 90 days after installation. After expiration, your computer will shut down every hour.

If you wish to continue to use Windows 7 Enterprise please note that you will be required to purchase and perform a clean installation of Windows 7, including drivers and applications. Please keep this in mind; Windows 7 Enterprise is not available through retail channels.

For more technical guidance, tips, and tools you can keep up all the general technical information and news by following the Springboard Series blog, becoming a Springboard Insider or by following our Twitter feed @MSspringboard

<evnet:views>9686</evnet:views><evnet:viewtrackingurl>http://edge.technet.com/6694/WebViewBug.aspx?EVT=0</evnet:viewtrackingurl><evnet:previewtext>There are lots of ways to get your hands on the final bits for Windows 7: Through a Software Assurance Volume License agreement Through MSDN and TechNet subscriptions Through Software Assurance agreements allowing the download of Windows 7 RTM via the Volume Licensing Download Center. If none of these options work for you, our friends at Springboard are making a 90-day eval version available for download.</evnet:previewtext>

<trackback:ping>http://edge.technet.com/6694/Trackback.aspx</trackback:ping>

What's New in Group Policy?

The Group Policy team hasn't been sitting idly by, they've added a bunch of new features to Group Policy and Group Policy Preferences, and I sat down with Michael and Lilia to go over some of them.

We actually managed to keep this secret for a little while, but the word is out now - starting today, MSDN and TechNet subscribers can access the Windows 7 RC release, with general public availability coming next week.

Generally speaking, the Win7 Beta that came out a few months ago was pretty feature complete, so the changes in the RC are primarily bug fixes and some UI changes. There are a few new things to look out for though, like FireWire camera support, Virtual Windows XP, and Multitouch support. Functionality to add Legacy Hardware is available too.

Here at Edge, we've been putting together some new videos with the latest news and info on Windows 7, so keep an eye out for that over the coming weeks. In the meantime, there's lots of good Win7 content out already that you should take a look at, if you haven't already:

Bob works for you

Everyone LOVES Bob

Bob’s wife Mary comes to office and brings cookies

Mary walks around unescorted

Everyone LOVES Mary.

Does this seem pretty common scenario in your offices? If it is then you need to ask the following questions:

Does Bob LOVE the Company?

Is Bob behind on his mortgage?

What is Mary really walking around for?

Does Mary Love the company?

Kai has an excellent post talking in more detail about scenarios like the one above:

Dripping Data: Understanding and Reducing Insider Threat (Part III)

When you take a look at those questions you can really see the dangerous potential of internal corporate espionage. Just some food for thought. Check out the interview below and if you want to learn more about TWC please visit: www.microsoft.com/security

<evnet:views>16042</evnet:views><evnet:viewtrackingurl>http://edge.technet.com/2517/WebViewBug.aspx?EVT=0</evnet:viewtrackingurl><evnet:previewtext>During one of our internal conferences at TechReady I got to speak with my good friend Kai Axford. Kai is an incredible security speaker and is a part of Microsoft Trustworthy Computing (TWC) group. Kai has a ton of knowledge around security strategies and technologies, and I was very happy he agreed to a quick interview.</evnet:previewtext>

<trackback:ping>http://edge.technet.com/2517/Trackback.aspx</trackback:ping>

The Nerd Herd #2 - Longhorn Server Core

We shot this video first thing in the morning, but you can see that Bill still has a lot of energy and passion around his job, which is basically making Windows Server go better. He told me about some of the Server 2003-2008 improvements that they've made, some things that really made me sit up and take notice. How about 40% more TS users on the same hardware? How about a 10% reduction in power consumption, under identical workloads? Faster network and disk transfers? All stuff you get just by upgrading the OS. Cool Stuff.
