SBS 2008 remote access demo and interview

Magesh Narayanan, program manager for SBS, gives us a detailed list of the new remote web workplace (RWW) features in SBS 2008 since SBS 2003 and tells us the design goals they had with remote access for this release. At [4:30] Magesh gives us a demo of SBS RWW, including:

SBS remote access gadget
Connect to a computer (Remote desktop over Terminal Server Gateway – RDP over TSG) & how computers show up in the connection list
Configuration options for the RWW console
Internal company website

[11:07] Magesh tells us when you would need to utilize a VPN outside of the built-in RWW features.

SBS 2008 Released to Manufacturing

Microsoft Small Business Server (SBS) announced today on their blog that they have released to manufacturing their latest version. According to their blog post they hope to have wide availability in time for their November 12th launch date that they announced back in July during the World Wide Partner Conference in Houston. If you are not familiar with SBS its a solution based on Windows Server 2008 and containing products such as Exchange Server, Forefront Security for Exchange and Windows Live OneCare for Server. SBS takes these big enterprise class products and builds a set of streamlined tools on top of them allowing for simple deployment based on best practices.

SBS 2008 Migration demo and interview

Chris Almida is the program manager for SBS team, owns the migration feature, and also the customer adoption program. One of the biggest advantages of migration is now you can do the migration during production hours without ever having the users notice! Chris talks about:

SBS 2008 Setup PM demo and interview

Becky Ochs, Program manager for setup and OEM of Small Business Server 2008 (codename Cougar), tells us what changes have been made in the product since SBS 2003. She demos the setup wizard of an OEM server using the unattend file, shows the new feature set on the SBS console, and explains the majority of the GUI options on the new SBS Answer File tool (SBSAfg). Also, she explains things you might ask yourself like: why you can't rename the domain name for an SBS server and why you can't use a routable public IP.

SBS 2008 PM Interview and Demo
