Lets face it, we all make mistakes.  Fortunately there’s a new Windows 7 feature that might just save your bacon if you misplace a USB drive with sensitive information on it.  You’ve probably heard about BitLocker.  It’s the drive encryption technology that’s been around now for a little while.  With Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, we took another step and now allow you to encrypt more than just the operating system drive.  BitLocker To Go is an easy to use encryption technology that will allow you to encrypt the contents of a USB stick or drive and prevent prying eyes from looking at your data.  Considering the number of recent horror stories about all sorts of sensitive data getting into the wrong hands, this feature is long overdue.

Bit Locker to go sounds fantastic. You can never be too secure with your computer especially when you do a lot of work online. Thanls for the information! Bill Gassett ~ RE/MAX Hopkinton MA

I work on computer alone to make money. Sometimes I just need to learn more about Windows in case anything wrong I know how to handle quickly by myself. Thanks for the useful update on the new tech.

Let's hope it doesn't suddenly fail on Windows 7 just like Backup/Restore failed on my Windows Vista.

Well, I might be late commenting on this one but I'd rather stick with my old Xp for home Smiley. Berita Harian

Finally an awesome encryption technology that can lock valuable information. I wonder if the technology will be available for use on the other Windows versions.

Ok I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64, love it, I use BLTG for all my removable USB Sticks and drives. I have a 500 GB external backup drive that I have my backup's and disk immage on. I was testing out something this morning and corrupted my C: installation but I was prepaired by making a fresh immage before I started the test install. So I inserted my Restore disk and went to install my immage back to C: and restore could not read the BLTG disk as it was encrypted. Got no prompt to input my key or password to unlock it. So if you have a cool tool but can't use for your back up drive what is the use? I even tried to put the disk attached to another PC on my network and can see the drive and immage file but won't let me install it. Now I am unencrypting it but 500 GB takes nearly 24 hours to do.

This looks really good. I know that there are members of the UK government who should read this because there have been problems with USB storage drives being left lying around etc.
