This 35 minute video walks you through all the steps to prepare for a zero touch installation of a Windows Vista image using Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) and System Center Configuration Manager (ConfigMgr) 2007:

  • Setup the server environment for ConfigMgr 2007 OS deployment
  • Configure the ConfigMgr 2007 Site Settings
  • Configure the ConfigMgr 2007 Computer Management Settings
  • Configure the ConfigMgr 2007 Operating System Deployment Settings
  • Setup and use MDT integration with ConfigMgr 2007
  • Add a reference machine object to ConfigMgr 2007
  • Create a build and capture reference image for mass deployment using ConfigMgr 2007

Awesome, I hope it goes this smooth for me Smiley

Very good post!!

I have one question (this might be a silly question, but I'm new to this Wink):

Why build a reference machine, do sysprep and capture the machine and then deploy the captured wim image; why not just use the first task sequence to deploy the OS'es (e.g. drop the capture process)?!?

Thanks,
-Brian

Awsome post well narrated and demos were to the point.

This should have been done a long time ago but now that it is thanks Microsoft.

Please do more like this for other products I guarantee it will be freequently used once more people get wind of it…

don't count on it until you see it... and, why are there so many methods of deployment?
aik, wdm, opk, mdt, etc...? (the "etc" is not another method)...
when will microsoft bring it together and provide cutting edge and easy to use methods?
