The Office 2010 technical preview was officially released at WPC today, so I met up with Reed who gives us the low-down on what's in Office 2010 for IT Pros along with demos of some new features.  Here's how the interview breaks down:

  • [1:23] What are some of the business justifications to upgrade to Office 2010?
  • [3:30] - Why would you buy Office considering we now have Office online offered for free?
  • [4:41] - What are some of the new features for IT Pros?
  • [8:04] - What is the migration story from Office 2003?
  • [9:09] - Demos of Office 2010
    • Microsoft Office backstage view
    • Accessibility Checker
    • Improved share/integration options with OCS, Sharepoint
    • Outlook: cleanup/ignore threads, multiple exchange accounts, management view
  • [14:32] - How does anywhere access differ from Office 2007?

Really good video. Looks like a cracking bit of software - looking forward to its full release. Vinyl Banners | Salon Software

I am a big Microsoft office fan! I have a cricket bats store and I use office for everything to emails and spreadsheats to keeping tracks of sales.  Hopefully office 2010 will be great, I will be the first to get my copy!

Microsoft has been the way to go for me. I am just not a Mac user. Many people dont realize how good Windows can be.  You just have to be familiar with the software. I work for a lake tahoe rentals and cabins resort and we use nothing but PC's.

I am definately not a PRO by any means but I am currently working on a custom doors website.  I am a good designer and I use Microsoft Office to manage my business. I am looking forward to trying this new version.

I would definitely updat to the latest version of MS Office.

I like the video as it is a nice touch to let users see the difference. That being said, I am totally convinced by the changes. It might be an overkill.
