Ok, Adam Bomb made an interesting find on one of my blog posts (Self-healing NTFS).  Amit had posted another "very similar" blog post without reference to my post at all.  I'm not mad or anything like that, but I am curious what others think on this subject...

Do you think it's acceptable to "hijack" another person's blog post and put some slight changes into it with or without a link to the original, or should you always link up to another person's post and only put your changes/additional comments in your own blog post?

It isn't acceptable, it is copying someone else's work and passing it off as your own. Posting your own thoughts and some portion of the original (clearly 'quoted') with a link back would certainly make sense. Even posting the whole thing, as much as I think that is wrong, wouldn't be so bad if you clearly indicate the source.
Hijack is the wrong wording.  When someone copies your work, it's a Copyright violation.  I have had a few people make that mistake with me.  In fact, one such person copied a screencast video I produced and uploaded it to SoapBox without my permission.  The quality was terrible and that person got hammered by me for the blatant violation.  Needless to say they removed the blog post and video.
I'm very conscious of this when posting info I've found elsewhere..I always try to put it into my own words as much as possible and I always link back to the original.
