Adam wrote this on his blog:

http://blogs.technet.com/adamca/archive/2008/01/29/my-interview-with-bob-muglia-bigwig.aspx

"I have a request for you:  At some point you've been using a Microsoft product, and asked yourself "what were they thinking when they made this?"  If you'll let me know what product you were using, and what made you want to ask that question, I'll grab my Edge camera and do my best to find an answer for you."

Lets help Adam create a new video series category.

I want Adam to chase down the SharePoint team and interview them about why they think "unexpected error occured" or "unknown error" would be helpfull to know when SharePoint [1] sees some kind of failure.

[1] It doesn't matter if it is WSS or MOSS.

I saw the errors a couple of times when i tried to create a new website and the Farm Services user account were locked out. I think i got three or four more extra grey hairs that day until i found out about the real failure.

Don't get me wrong, i love "unknown errors" because then i have to do unknown things to correct the problem and my boss allows me to yell obscene things at the computer (yelling obscene things is good for your blood pressure and so is good dark beer and chocolate).

I'm working on this - trying to find a good contact in the SharePoint team that will talk on camera.

Anyone else got teams they'd like us to go talk to?

I would say the "BOB" team but I think that's too much of sore spot... Wink

Yes I'm being funny.  I actually have a copy of "BOB" on my desk.  I consider it one of Microsoft's Lost Children... (I'm not fibbing on that one either, paid $40 on eBay just to get it three months ago)

I'm pretty sure that anyone that's still around that had anything to do with Bob won't admit to it.

Everyone that was involved with Bob and admits to it has been hunted down.

I have a virtual machine with Bob installed on it.  Amazing how fast Windows 3.1 runs on modern hardware.  Bob really wasn't that bad - the whole idea of humanizing the interface would later become Snippy the paperclip in Office.  Of course, he's become a punchline now too...
