Hello,

I'm curious on which release is more important to you today.  Are you more interested in Windows XP SP3 or Windows Vista SP1?  Why?

Thanks,

Keith

Vista SP1. Once all the nits are solved, which is done most efficiently in the SP's, Vista will be a no-brainer over XP. We are moving to it as part of our hardware refresh anyway, so the better it can get in the shortest amount of time is a bonus. I dont think we will spend as much energy updating all our thousands of users to XP SP3 as opposed to getting everyone on\perfecting the Vista deployment.
I don't know about what's more important to MS, but what's most important to me is XP-SP3.  It's currently taking hours to install XP from SP2 media, especially with the #$@% .NET kludges tacked on. Sad  What are they going to do, go to .NET 4, .NET 5, .NET 2-SP4, .NET 6, ... ad infinitim???

If you look at the latest version of VS2008, this only support 2,3 and 3.5 ... which seems like a lot of framework versions but version 2.0 and 3.0 come with Vista any how and 3.5 will come with windows updates as will future versions.

With XP it wasn't really meant to support all of the WPF, etc frameworks it was a late decision when vista was reset... so it will be windows update and the devs ensuring that they ship the required version.

I hope that makes, sense, it's late and I need sleep!

I'd have to say Vista SP1 since that's what all but one of my clients are running. Further, Vista is the future of the Windows OS family and once all the kinks are worked out, I believe more and more people will begin to adopt it at which point we will see some incredible applications being developed on top of Vista! Just my two cents.

At work i am more interested in WXP SP3.

At home i am more interested en WV SP1.

At work: Because we havent deployed Vista yet and i want to use NAP and some of the other great new technologies and enhancements in W2K8 as soon as possible.

At home: Because i have deployed Vista and only use WXP in virtual machines now.

I would say Vista SP1.  I want to rid of watching those damn Mac commercials and watch Vista walk all over that bad kitty cat.

Vista's good and cool, but the wrinkles need to be cleared out to lock the leapord back into it's cage.

Go Microsoft Go!  Kick those Mac weenies back!

They all seemed to have forgotten just WHO's company was bailed out by WHO back then.  If it wasn't for a "Certain Somebody" the Apple tree would have died a long time ago.

Go Vista Go!  Go Vista Go!  Let's see SP1 one released (Beta test the WAZZOOO out of it) and let the shots ring out free and true and watch the Leapord cringe and cry...

Oh c'mon, I have to have a LITTLE fun... Smiley

BTW off topic comment.   That Steve Ballmer pic Peder VM is showing rocks!

100% Agree with King Cobra's's post. My company can't afford the HW refresh. We will be rolling out 2K8 before we roll out Vista.
