It would be great if you added an "alert me" button to a thread such as is used on TechNet Forums, so that a reader could get alerts when the thread is updated.

All of our threads have RSS enabled. If you look at the toolbar in IE while viewing this thread, you will see it "light up" to indicate an RSS feed is available.

By doing this you can now subscribe to the thread and get notifications in your favorite browser.

We'll be surfacing the RSS feeds up more prominantly in the site soon.

He means Windows Live Alerts. Mostly all MS forums have an possibility to subscribe to Alerts and not only to RSS.
